Golden Koru

This torso was made on a mould. It was made from earthenware clay and has an applied stoneware motif. The piece was bisque fired then sealed inside and out and painted with metallic charcoal paint. This was further rag worked with silver acrylic and the motif painted in copper acrylic. The whole surface was then sprayed with a clear lacquer.

This was my first painted work. I chose paint simply because it gave me total control over the colours and effects I could achieve. Sometimes the surprise element of glaze is delightful and sometimes... you just know what you want!!
